ABOUT MRS. BESNARD
My name is Amy Besnard. I spent several years living in a very small town in British Columbia, Canada and then moved back to the Bay Area; I spent most of my youth in San Jose, California. After high school, I came to Chico to attend the university. I immediately fell in love with the small-town charm and warm people, so I made the decision to stay and raise a family here.
Education
I attended CSU, Chico for my Bachelor's degree in English, teaching credential, and Master's degree in Education. I truly believe in life-long learning. I constantly look to challenge myself. Several years ago I was accepted in to the Teacher's for Global Classrooms program which allowed me to take coursework in global education and then travel to Indonesia to teach and continue my study. Feel free to check out my Globalizing the High School Classroom website to read and see more of my experience in this program. I am now passionate about international student service learning.
My Family
My husband is currently the Principal at Shasta Elementary. We have two little boys, Ethan and Cade, who keep us extremely busy with their academics, music (ukulele), basketball, baseball, soccer, gymnastics, and swimming. Our boys are definitely the highlights of our lives.
Teaching
This will be my 18th year at PVHS. I feel privileged to work with the amazing staff on this campus. I find that my colleagues continue to raise the bar and make me want to be a better teacher. I am blessed to be surrounded by so much talent and support.
In addition to teaching at PV, I also teach part-time for the university. I instruct pedagogy courses during the weekend to credential students who are entering the world of teaching. I find instructing enthusiastic new educators incredibly rewarding as well.

Hobbies
There is no doubt that I have an adventurous spirit. I absolutely love traveling and learning about different cultures and meeting new people. I've traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, Indonesia, Cambodia, Peru, Cuba and parts of Europe, including France, England, Spain, and Italy. I will not shy away from different foods, experiences, or challenges. My motto is to live with no regrets!
In addition to travel, I enjoy reading, writing, dancing, playing games, and hunting for fabulous shoes!
