CLASS EXPECTATIONS
Grading Policy
Students are responsible for completing every assignment given during the year. Any missing assignment will lower the grade in that area. Note: NO LATE WORK IS ACCEPTED! NO EXCEPTIONS! If the student has an excused absence, he/she will have the equivalent number of days to make up the work.
Grade Breakdown
50% - All assessments (quizzes, exams, orals)
50% - All assignments (writing, projects, in-class work, homework, reading, in-class participation)
50% - All assignments (writing, projects, in-class work, homework, reading, in-class participation)
Academic Integrity
Students are expected to complete all of their own work. Working with other students, siblings, parents, friends, etc. is not acceptable unless specifically told otherwise. Plagiarism is using someone else's thoughts or words without giving him/her full citation credit. Working with other individuals, plagiarizing, or cheating will result in a zero on the assignment/test and a referral. Additional consequences may be given depending on the situation. Any form of cheating is NOT tolerated.
Turnitin.com is a program our school has purchased in order to check for student plagiarism from web resources. Each student will be required to submit all papers through Turnitin.com to check for plagiarism. If a paper is not submitted to Turnitin on time, the paper will not be accepted. No exceptions.

Tardies/Truancies
A tardy is not being in your seat when the bell rings to begin class! Following the school-wide tardy policy, if a student arrives tardy, he/she will immediately be sent to the office to be assigned a 30 minute detention. The student has only 5 school days to serve this detention before further consequences occur (Saturday school, loss of privileges, suspension, etc.). Detention room will be announced. Note: Students may not make up work, quizzes, etc. due to tardy/detention assignment.
A truancy is any uncleared absence. For every truancy the student will be assigned Saturday school. No exceptions! All absences must be cleared in the main office within two days of a student's return.

Hall Passes
Hall passes are issued at the discretion of the teacher. Obviously, there is an appropriate time to ask to go. Do not abuse the system. Hall passes are not for the snack shack, socializing, or for using a phone. This will result in no more hall passes. If a student must leave on a regular basis, please provide the school nurse with a written description of the medical condition.
